  • 1953

    Swiss Saurer engine production license (FAMOS)

  • 1964

    NSU motorcycle production starts (PRETIS)

  • 1965

    German NSU Printz assembly beginning (PRETIS)

  • 1969

    Contract with Volkswagen (PRETIS)

  • 1969

    Volkswagen takes over NSU together with PRETIS

  • 1970

    Beetle assembly starts

  • 1973

    FAMOS – Mercedes - BENZ cooperation established

  • 1976

    Production of VW Golf begins

  • 1985

    Volkswagen TAS manufacturing plant established

  • 1992

    12000 employed in FAMOS

  • 1950 beginning of development of automotive industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina;
  • Development started by truck engine manufacturing;
  • 1953 gathering of license from Swiss Saurer for engine production;
  • 1973 cooperation between FAMOS and Mercedes - BENZ for engine production;
  • 12.000 employed before war in 1992;
  • Annual income was ca. 400 million DM.

“PRETIS” Sarajevo
(PREduzeće TIto Sarajevo)

 

  • 1965 starts assembly of German NSU Printz;
  • Production of NSU motorcycles;
  • 1969 contract with VOLKSWAGEN.

“TAS“ Sarajevo
(Tvornica Automobila Sarajevo)

 

  • 1969. VOLKSWAGEN takes over NSU together with PRETIS,
  • 1970. starts assembly of VW Beetle,
  • 1976. production of VW GOLF,
  • 1985. manufacturing plant establish TAS Sarajevo,
  • VW CADDY approximately 20% in GDP (EX Yu);
  • GOLF 12% in GDP (EX Yugoslavia).
